How to get to Nong Khiaw
Nong Khiaw is easily accessible by bus from much of Laos. The closest main city to Nong Khiaw is Luang Prabang, about 4 hours south. Multiple buses run daily from Luang Prabang and cost around 150,000 kip, roughly 6 euros. You can also catch sleeper buses to and from Nong Khiaw to most corners of Laos. Best time to visit Nong Khiaw
The best time to visit Nong Khiaw is between October and February. This period has the most pleasant temperatures and minimal humidity, making it perfect to hike up to the many viewpoints in the area.
Between March and May is the hottest time of the year in Nong Khiaw, so avoid this period if you intend on doing lots of outdoor activities.
July to September is the monsoon season and sees the most rainfall, so conditions can be poor for those wishing to trek and explore the countryside. This can also bring landslides which can affect your ability to get to and from Nong Khiaw if the roads are affected.

Where to visit after Nong Khiaw
From Nong Khiaw you can return to Luang Prabang and continue your journey further South into Laos.
